Pick a vessel you love. Fill it with pearls.
Any fireproof container at least 10 cm wide works: ceramic, glass, metal, stone. Your grandmother's teacup, the bowl from the market, the jar of a candle you finished years ago. Pour the pearls in until the vessel is about three-quarters full, then level them gently with your hand.
- Fireproof only: ceramic, glass, metal or stone. No plastic, no wood on the inside.
- Minimum 10 cm wide: the flame needs room to breathe and melt evenly.
- Depth of pearls: at least 4–5 cm so the wick stands straight and burns its full 12 hours.
Plant the wick DEEP. This is the secret.
Take a cotton wick by its metal tab and push it straight down into the pearls, all the way to the bottom, so only the tip peeks out. A wick planted deep burns slowly, evenly and cleanly. A wick resting on top burns fast and hot: that's the one mistake beginners make.
The wick rule: each wick covers a 5 cm radius. Place your wicks so every pearl sits within 5 cm of one, and the burn is 100% optimised. A 10 cm bowl needs 1 wick; a 20 cm centrepiece, 3.
Every box comes with 30 pre-tabbed cotton wicks, unbleached and lead-free. Each one burns for around 12 hours.
Light it, and let the evening happen.
Only the pearls around the flame melt, about 1 cm around the wick, so the candle never tunnels and never wastes wax. Each wick gives you around 12 hours of glow; a full box, up to 120 hours. When you're done, snuff it out or simply let the wick burn down: the flame goes out on its own when its work is finished.
- Knocked over? It goes out. The pearls smother the flame instantly, no wax spill, no panic.
- No black smoke, no soot: a clean burn that's kind to walls, lungs and curious noses.
- As with any candle: never leave a flame unattended.
Unscented candle? Add your own mood.
The classic Pearled Candle is scent-free by design, so YOU choose the fragrance, room by room, evening by evening. Just add a few drops of our Scented Oils around the wick before lighting: the flame diffuses the scent gently as the wax melts.
- The dose: 2–3 drops around each wick, right before lighting. More drops, stronger scent.
- Change every refresh: lavender tonight, citrus tomorrow. The pearls hold no memory of the last scent.
- Already scented? Our repellent candles are infused with real essential oils, nothing to add.
A brand-new candle, in thirty seconds.
Once the wax has cooled, the melted pearls form a thin solid cap around the spent wick. Lift it out in one piece, drop in a fresh wick, top up with new pearls, and light. That's it: a brand-new candle, not a half-dead jar. Again and again, for every moment worth marking.
- Wait for it to cool fully (about 30 minutes) before lifting the wax cap out.
- Keep the used cap: it's not waste, it's your next candle (see below).
- Change the mood: swap colours or add a few drops of Scented Oil around the fresh wick.
Your pearls have more than one life.
That wax cap you lifted out? Don't bin it. The wax was designed from day one to be crushed and poured again, so nothing you bought ever goes to waste.
Pop the cooled wax cap into a plastic bag and break it up with a rolling pin (or a pestle, or the bottom of a mug). Aim for rough pea-sized pieces, no need for perfection.
Pour the crushed wax back into your vessel exactly like fresh pearls. Mix them with new pearls or use them on their own, both work beautifully.
Plant a fresh wick deep and light. The wax was engineered to melt evenly even when crushed, so your candle burns just as slow and clean as day one.
Crushed pearls won't look factory-perfect, but thanks to the wax texture we developed, they melt and glow just as beautifully. Again and again.
The little details that change everything.
Mix your colours
Pearls layer beautifully: pour two colours in stripes, or blend them for a speckled glow. Your candle, your palette.
They float
Fill a bowl with water, scatter petals, pour a handful of pearls with a wick: the floating centrepiece nobody expects.
Ending the evening
Use a snuffer for a smoke-free goodnight, or let the wick finish: the flame extinguishes itself when the wick is done.
Storing your pearls
Keep the tube closed, away from direct sun and radiators. Stored cool and dry, pearls keep for years.
